Photo Shoot with Isabel
The weather in Normal is absolutely gorgeous today. My colleague, Isabel, photographer extraordinaire directed me in a photo shoot. The girl is going places, she is absolutely amazing. Below are some of the photos she took. If you're ever in Normal, IL and find yourself wanting pictures taken, she is your girl.

Alexandra: Season finale
Today is the last day of the joint fashion adventure of Caroline and I before we go on summer break. It's going to be tough being away from my stylish Puerto Rican fairy godmother and future wife, but it's just a couple of months, right? Today I wanted to keep it clean and simple to show that you need not wear heaps of accessories to be fashionable. Although, let's face it, I do love me some accessories. Also, I wanted to take one last stroll around the building in my favorite burgundy heels before it's all flats and sandals this summer.
Caroline and I will be blogging from time to time this summer, albeit separately, so check back in every so often. I will also provide a link to my travel blog once I get it up and running. Feel free to read the blog and follow me while I traipse around Europe with my best friend, Melanie. I can't wait!
Merci, thank you, спасибо and gracias, faithful readers. Caroline and I will be together and back in Totally Normal action in August!

Caroline: I dislike you, FINALS week!
Entonces, ¿qué me queda?
Preppy look for everyone!
Alexandra: Cat Power
Leopard print. You love it or you hate it. There is no middle ground. The trouble with leopard print is that it is a very loud print and oftentimes walks a fine line between fashionable and Fran Drescher. If you are considering trying leopard print, but are worried that it might look tacky, add solid neutral accessories and tones to subdue the look. Go wild.
On an unrelated note, tomorrow's entry will be the last Totally Normal featuring both Caroline and I as we are going separate ways for the summer. Thank you for reading our blog, we've had lots of fun procrastinating and making use of our ridiculous love of fashion. We will be updating the site from time to time this summer with our individual posts, Caroline from Puerto Rico and me from San Francisco and Europe.

Alexandra: I hate goodbyes!
Caroline and I first decided that last night would be our final Totally Normal entry until we get back to school in August after summer break. But, fear not, we will be Totally Normaling Monday and Tuesday! Our colleague and his girlfriend threw an end-of-the-year get together last night. It was a great evening spent with some lovely language and English grad students.
This year flew by and it will be difficult to say goodbye to those that are moving on to bigger and better things. I have made such great friends and will be sad to see some of them go. I'll miss you, crazy patterned clothing. Oh yeah, I guess the people were pretty fantastic, too.

Caroline: Mis estudiantes.
Alexandra: Impractical clothing: A Swan Song
My best friend from home and I leave for Europe in a few short weeks to travel before I begin my program in France. Because I will be on the go for the better part of a month, it would be considered unwise to pack a) too much clothing and b) clothing that isn't practical (e.g. tight fitting bright teal skirts that bear a striking resemblance to a mermaid's tail). This summer it will be all versatile clothing, TOMs, sandals, and few accessories.
These final few days in Illinois will act as a farewell to my more "unique" pieces of clothing. A swan song if you will. Goodbye high heels, goodbye crazy patterns, goodbye multiple pairs of boots and too many scarves...À plus tard mes chéris. See you in August...Le sigh.

Alexandra: A passage to India
The travel bug runs rampant in my family, particularly on my mother's side. There's something about sitting in one place that drives us crazy. There is so much to see in the world! About a year ago my uncle was living in India. Although I would have killed to visit him, it just wasn't financially feasible. My cousin, however, went to visit him and brought me back the beautiful pink silk scarf. One day I'll make it to India, but until then this gorgeous scarf will have to suffice.
